Steps to See It
- Take off all armor and open the character sheet. Armor shows 0.
- Hover Leather Pants in the inventory. The tooltip shows ARMOR: 4.
- Equip Leather Pants. Armor on the character sheet still shows 0.
- Expected
- Armor rises by the value the tooltip shows.
- Observed in the Game
- Armor on the character sheet stays at 0.
For Developers
- Cause
- Equipping looks up the piece's row of ArmorDataTable by its English name without spaces and apostrophes. No row has that name, for example because the Velosian Plume-helm keeps its hyphen while its row is named VelosianPlumehelm, so the piece counts as Unarmored with no armor. Damage taken is multiplied by 1 minus the total armor divided by 100. The tooltip shows the item's ItemInfo.Damage instead, or the row whose armor name equals the item's name.

Steps to See It
- Equip a piece of body armor and note Armor on the character sheet.
- Hover Bonecaller's Band in the inventory. The tooltip shows ARMOR: 1.
- Equip Bonecaller's Band. Armor on the character sheet does not change.
- Expected
- Armor rises by the value the tooltip shows, or the tooltip shows no armor.
- Observed in the Game
- Armor on the character sheet stays the same.
For Developers
- Cause
- The armor total adds up the head, torso, arms, legs, knee, feet and shoulder slots only. The tooltip shows the row of ArmorDataTable whose armor name equals the item's name, whatever slot the item is worn in.

Knee armor counts only after another piece is equipped
Knee armor, such as Broad Knee Guards, adds no armor when it is the last armor you equip. It counts once you equip another armor piece.
Workaround
Equip another armor piece after the knee armor.
Affected Items 2
Steps to See It
- Take off all armor. Armor on the character sheet shows 0.
- Equip Broad Knee Guards, which add 7 armor. Armor still shows 0.
- Equip a weapon. Armor still shows 0.
- Equip Feral Maw, a helmet that adds 1 armor. Armor shows 8.
- Expected
- Armor shows 7 once the knee guards are equipped.
- Observed in the Game
- Armor stays at 0 until another armor piece is equipped, and then includes the knee guards.
For Developers
- Cause
- Equipping armor in every other slot recalculates the armor total through Set player Speed based on Armor, which calls Retrieve Player Armor. The knee branch of Attach Equipment attaches the knee armor without that call, so the total keeps its old value until another armor piece is equipped.

Some foods do nothing when eaten
Steak, Soup, Turkey Leg, Cooked Red Wrangler, Red Wrangler Sandwich and Potato Seeds are used up without any effect when eaten, although their descriptions promise healing.
Steps to See It
- Lose some Health.
- Hover Steak in the inventory. Its description says it restores 80 health.
- Eat it. The Steak is gone, and Health only keeps regenerating as before.
- Expected
- Health rises by 80.
- Observed in the Game
- The food is used up, and Health does not rise beyond its normal regeneration.
For Developers
- Cause
- Eating looks up the food's row of FoodEffectDataTable by its name without spaces and apostrophes, and then by its localized name. No row matches these foods, so eating applies no effect.

Druid's Stew does not boost foraging
Druid's Stew grants Druidsight but not the foraging experience boost it lists.
Affected Items 1
Steps to See It
- Eat Druid's Stew. The status effects show Druidsight but no foraging experience boost.
- Eat Carrot Cake. The foraging experience boost appears.
- Expected
- Druid's Stew adds the foraging experience boost as well as Druidsight.
- Observed in the Game
- Only Druidsight appears, and the foraging experience multiplier stays at 1.
For Developers
- Cause
- The stew's row of FoodEffectDataTable lists the effect as Boost Foraging EXP with a trailing space. The food manager applies effects by name, and no effect has that name.

Some foods restore different amounts than their descriptions say
Buttered Bread restores 15 health and 30 mana, the reverse of its description, and Spud Colossus restores 200 health and no stamina, while its description says 200 stamina.
Affected Items 2
Steps to See It
- Lose some health and mana. Hover Buttered Bread in the inventory. Its description says it restores 30 health and 15 mana.
- Eat it. Health rises by 15 and Mana by 30.
- Lose some health and stamina, and eat Spud Colossus, whose description says it restores 200 stamina. Health rises by up to 200, and Stamina only keeps regenerating as before.
- Expected
- Buttered Bread restores 30 health and 15 mana, and Spud Colossus restores 200 stamina.
- Observed in the Game
- Buttered Bread restores 15 health and 30 mana. Spud Colossus restores 200 health, up to the maximum, and no stamina.
For Developers
- Cause
- Eating applies the food's row of FoodEffectDataTable. Buttered Bread's row heals 15 and restores 30 mana, and Spud Colossus' row heals 200 and has no stamina effect, while the descriptions the tooltip shows say otherwise.

Some potions do nothing when used
Health Potion, Mana Potion and Castleside Cider do nothing when used, and Dwarfs Flaggon only restores 60 stamina.
Affected Items 4
Steps to See It
- Lose some health and mana. Hover Health Potion in the inventory. Its description calls it a standard healing potion.
- Use it. The potion is gone, and Health only keeps regenerating as before.
- Use Mana Potion with some mana missing. Mana only keeps regenerating as before.
- Use Dwarfs Flaggon with some stamina missing. Stamina rises by 60 at once, and no Drunk status appears.
- Expected
- Health Potion restores health, Mana Potion restores mana, and Dwarfs Flaggon makes you drunk, as their descriptions say.
- Observed in the Game
- Health Potion, Mana Potion and Castleside Cider are used up without any effect. Dwarfs Flaggon restores 60 stamina and nothing else.
For Developers
- Cause
- Using a potion runs FoodManager's Drink Potion, which reads each effect slot's power as an effect number of PotionEffectTranslatorTable and its duration as the amount, as the potion crafting window writes potions. These potions store their real powers there, such as 345 for Restore Health, which are no effect numbers. Dwarfs Flaggon's Improved Jumping holds 5, the number of Restore Stamina, with 60 as its duration.

Some staves launch no fireballs
Despite their descriptions, Fairy Staff, Gripclaw Staff and the two staves named Soulstaff launch no fireballs and use no mana.
Affected Items 4
Steps to See It
- Hover Fairy Staff in the inventory. Its description says it launches small fireballs each time it is swung and each swing consumes 5 mana.
- Equip and draw Fairy Staff with at least 5 mana available. The staff is visible in hand.
- Use normal attacks while aiming into open space. The staff swings, but no fireball appears and the mana bar does not drop.
- Repeat with Gripclaw Staff or a staff named Soulstaff. They show the same description, and their swings launch no fireball either.
- Expected
- Each normal swing launches a small fireball and consumes 5 mana, as the description says.
- Observed in the Game
- Normal swings of Fairy Staff, Gripclaw Staff and both staves named Soulstaff create no projectile and consume no mana. Fairy Staff's charged attacks, blocking and attacks while blocking also produced no fireball in either first-person or third-person view.
For Developers
- Cause
- The inventory tooltip displays each staff's ItemInfo.Description. Fairy Staff, Gripclaw Staff and both Soulstaff classes have the same description as Staff of Minor Flames, whose Swing Event spends 5 mana and spawns a fireball. Their own Swing Events spawn no projectile and spend no mana.

Some staves deal 100 damage at point-blank range
The projectiles of Walking Stick, Acolyte Geomancer Staff and Moonstone Staff deal 100 damage instead of 12, 20 and 35 if they hit an enemy as they leave the staff. Attacking from close range can make this happen.
Affected Items 3
Steps to See It
- Equip and draw Acolyte Geomancer Staff with enough mana to attack and no damage-changing effects active. The staff is visible in hand.
- Attack a goblin from a distance where the projectile visibly travels before impact. A normal projectile hit shows 20 damage.
- Face a goblin at close melee range and use normal attacks through the second swing of the combo. A projectile that hits as it appears can show 100 damage.
- Repeat with Walking Stick and Moonstone Staff. Their distant projectile hits show 12 and 35 damage respectively, while point-blank hits can show 100.
- Expected
- Normal projectile hits use the same base damage at both ranges: 12 for Walking Stick, 20 for Acolyte Geomancer Staff and 35 for Moonstone Staff.
- Observed in the Game
- All three staves dealt 100 projectile damage when the projectile overlapped the goblin during creation. At longer range, Walking Stick dealt 12, Acolyte Geomancer Staff dealt 20 and Moonstone Staff dealt 35.
For Developers
- Cause
- GenericStaffProjectile starts with Damage 100. These three staves call FinishSpawningActor before assigning their literal projectile Damage values of 12, 20 and 35. If the projectile overlaps an enemy during that call, the overlap applies the default 100 before the staff writes its normal value. Whether this happens depends on the projectile's spawn position and the enemy's collision, not a fixed distance.

Some staves deal different damage than their tooltips show
Walking Stick, Adept Cryomancer Staff, Moonstone Staff and Winter's Whisper deal 12, 20, 35 and 35 damage per hit, while their tooltips show 2, 15, 30 and 20. Pinto Staff, Fairy Staff and Gripclaw Staff deal 10 per hit, while their tooltips show 20.
Affected Items 7
Steps to See It
- Hover Walking Stick in the inventory. Its tooltip shows Damage: 2.
- Equip Walking Stick and hit an enemy from a few steps away, so the projectile travels before it hits. The damage number shows 12.
- Repeat with the other staves. Pinto Staff, Fairy Staff and Gripclaw Staff hit with their swing and show 10.
- Expected
- A hit deals the damage the tooltip shows.
- Observed in the Game
- Hits from range dealt 12 with Walking Stick, 20 with Adept Cryomancer Staff and 35 with Moonstone Staff and Winter's Whisper. Swings of Pinto Staff, Fairy Staff and Gripclaw Staff dealt 10. Their tooltips showed 2, 15, 30, 20 and 20.
For Developers
- Cause
- The tooltip's stat line shows ItemInfo.Damage. A staff whose Weapon Class is Staff deals the damage that its Staff Attack gives the projectile it spawns, and a staff that swings like a halberd deals WeaponInfo.Damage when its hit box overlaps an enemy. These seven staves have other values there than in ItemInfo.Damage.

Steps to See It
- Open the character sheet and choose Detailed Stats. Under Passive Levels, One-Handed Weapons and Two-Handed Weapons show 0/50 EXP on a new character.
- Equip and draw Lonland Halberd and hit an enemy once.
- Open Detailed Stats again. No passive level shows more EXP.
- Hit an enemy once with Bloodforged Blade and open Detailed Stats again. One-Handed Weapons shows 2/50 EXP.
- Expected
- Each hit adds EXP to a passive level, as hits with other melee weapons do.
- Observed in the Game
- Hits with Lonland Halberd, Standard Greataxe, Fairy Staff and each other affected weapon add no EXP to any passive level. A hit with Bloodforged Blade adds 2 EXP to One-Handed Weapons, a hit with Copper Battleaxe 2 EXP to Two-Handed Weapons, and hits with staves such as Moonstone Staff add EXP to Focuses.
For Developers
- Cause
- A melee hit passes the weapon's WeaponInfo.AttackType to Add Proper Weapon EXP. One-handed, dagger, spear and two-handed attacks each add EXP to their passive level. A halberd attack adds Staff EXP, which Detailed Stats shows as Focuses, only when the weapon's Weapon Class is Staff, and nothing for any other class. Copper Battleaxe swings like a halberd but passes the two-handed attack type, so it trains Two-Handed Weapons.
